What do you mean by tubular fractals? Can you post an example?

In Tierazon there are filters for "stalks".

L-systems can be branching tubes like these two:

Escape time fractals can also be colored to appear to have tubular shapes:

Then there are at least a couple dozen fractal type applications available which will create these "tubular" graphic images.

don't recall whether i read it in the deviation's descriptions or whether don told me explicitly, but iirc it was rendered in maya from a density field created with don's application (before it did its own rendering).

The program is called "FraSZle" and was created by Terry W. Gintz.  These images are some older ones I generated way back near the beginning of this century.
