i thought i'd enter some of my early parameter-space morphing animations; they're made with my 2d ifs app (ham and mustard, current release available here: http://www.fractographer.com/binaries) using interpolated keyframes selected from batch renders of random points in the high ifs dimensional parameter space.

between contract work, getting 4 wisdom teeth removed and neverwinter nights 2 i haven't had much time to work on it, but the early results are still nice to watch i think. there are a few more animations in the wip/ folder too.

entry 1: http://www.fractographer.com/wip/test5.avi

edit: replaced entry 1 with some earlier ifs experiments:

entry 1: http://www.mysticgd.com/thomas/slinkyspace/lexi%20(abstract%20fractal%20art).wmv9.avi
entry 2: http://www.fractographer.com/wip/test6.avi
entry 3: http://www.fractographer.com/wip/test7.avi

that's kinda in reverse order of coolness i think wink

rather use medial player classic, btw smiley

the videos are encoded using xvid, and probably a relatively recent version (for 64 bit support), some links:

mpc: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=82303&package_id=84358
xvid: http://www.koepi.org/XviD-1.1.2-01112006.exe

you don't need mpc but it's strongly recommended, and i really hope that xvid  works - let me know pls smiley

I think they are probably divx videos.

while divx may be capable of playing 2/3 files (entries 2 and 3), those were encoded with xvid. the 1st entry is encoded with the wmv9 codec, and should be playable in any recent windows media player.

I'm confused why the only posts were regarding the file format..  The animations are incredible - by far the most unique I've seen a long time.  The motion blur is fantastic.  This is a look Ultra Fractal could really use - it can blur "camera motion" (zooming and panning) but not parameter morphing.  Keep them coming.

well i'm glad someone likes them! tongue stuck out

cheers mate, and the next bunch of animations should be much better btw wink and you're quite right, there's a wonderful nonlinear relationship between interpolated parameters and the images they produce.
