Electric Jellyfish.

Believe it or not, this is a 3D Burning Ship Julia set. It looks like either a Jellyfish, or one of those weird-looking blown-glass chandeliers. Rendered in Fragmentarium.

Wow!! Any tips for creating something similar? How did you get that glass like texture?

Thanks!

@brane:
The glass effect really just relies on the formula and very particular Julia seeds. There's no special shading effects going on- just specular highlights and orbit trap coloring. I'll put this in as a preset when I release the formula.

@Seryzone:
Go here to get Fragmentarium: http://syntopia.github.io/Fragmentarium/. The maker is Syntopia, a FractalForums member. It's really simple to use, if you're using the built-in formulas, which there are quite a lot of. To create custom formulas, you need to learn the glsl shading language, which is basically a simplified C with native vector and matrix types. You need a semi-decent GPU to run it, but if you have one, it'll run blazingly fast.

Also check out this public Fragmentarium gallery (Really incredible stuff here!): https://www.flickr.com/groups/fragmentarium/
Unfortunately I don't know if any of these people have released any formulas...

I'm going to release my 3D Burning Ship formula on the Fragmentarium board. Just wait until you see my next pictures... this fractal is like a gold mine! I'm pretty blown away by the stuff I've found.
