Yes! It is possible!
This fractal was rendered in Excel spreadsheet (exactly in Open Office Calc). There was used only cell formulas without any macros.

Rendering parameters:
resolution: 80x80
maximum number of iterations: 10
rendering time: 10s
spreadsheet size: 6870x80

It was rendered very fast. Only approximately 10 seconds (time for spreadsheet recalculation and refresh chart). But resolution and iteration count is very low.
