Hi, I'm new here and to the fractals. I remember seeing the movie Pi by Darren Aronofsky couple of years back. I was confused, intrigued and started to look the world in a different way. a few years later the the uni a professor mentioned fractals and explained them briefly. I was sold instantly. Not by their visual beauty, but by the beauty of their simplicity. I started seeing patterns everywhere and began to view the nature as a set of simple functions/algorithms, which, when put together, form this magnificently complex system that sorrounds us. Now I got my degree in CS and want to study fractals in more detail and to really gain some comperhensive understanding about them. Their potential is phenomenal, but I have some trouble finding a narrow field to study, since my background is purely computer science oriented and I have never done anything too far out of its scope.
I read the book The Misbehaviour of Markets by Mandelbrot and started to wander, if there are people that are actually trying to achieve some understanding of financial makets with fractals. This is probably the best place on the internet to ask this question. Is anybody here researching the stock market?
I have to add I have been fascinated by the Mandelbulb renderings you guys posted here. Wonderful work guys! You gave me really pleasant and interesting dreams two days ago
