Once you've selected frames to be animated in Mandelbulb 3D is there anyway to save your progress and continue rendering later?
I just put together a pretty cool animation and had it in really hi res and it was taking days to finish. Well last night my computer decided to update windows and restarted my computer without asking my permission. So I think I lost everything that wasn't finished yet.
First question is, would that project have been saved anywhere? And if not automatically is there a way that in the future I could save the project and continue later so my computer doesn't have to stay on for a week straight?

If you haven't saved the m3a file in the animation maker, you will not be able to retrieve the animation. You can save the animation by clicking the button in the lower left corner of the animation maker. You can interrupt the animation sequence anytime you like, because the files are saved as bmp/jpg/png files, depending on your settings. If you want to resume rendering, select the index for the frame where you left off and enter that in the "Start with index" box (bottom middle of the animation maker dialog box).

On the topic of automatic restarting from Windows Update, I've tried the method described here: http://www.fractalforums.com/non-fractal-related-chit-chat/fruitless-overnight-renders-due-to-windows-update/, and it works like a charm. Be careful with typing errors, though...

Good luck!
