Dear Folks,
I need help installing Mandelbulber on my MacPro.
I have a clean install of Snow Leopard and X11 installed but that's it.
I've downloaded Mandelbulber mac-1.03, the math renderer, Macports etc. but not installed or attempted to.
The MandelReadMe is unclear to me since I'm not proficient with Terminal and machine language.
Could someone please give me an understandable and simple set of instructions on how to instal Mandelbulber.

I have a MacPro, dual quad core, 12 gig RAM, and ATI Radeon for MAC 5770 card.
Not much fractal software for Macs but I do have Fractalworks, Xaos 3.5, and Fractal Domains downloaded but not installed.
Any help concerning programs would be appreciated.
I don't want to run BootCap and XP programs since XP only uses one core and 2 gig of memory. Also, the Radeon 5770 is not Windows compatible as far as I know. The hit in performance is serious.
Have a great day,
Bill Hackett

Hi Bill, XP uses multi-threading fine provided the software used does so - using Bootcamp+XP on a second drive results in XP working as if you were 100% on a pure non-Apple machine - also if your system is a 64-bit Apple then you can use a 64-bit Windows and the 2GB limit also goes away.
If you don't want to use Bootcamp then Crossover is worth every penny and only causes around a 5% performance hit (as opposed to using Parallels which is significantly worse) - of course you could use WINE for free instead of Crossover but if you're not comfortable using Terminal then it's far better to go for Crossover.
