Clicking the link in Chrome:
2: mysql_query() [<a href='function.mysql-query'>function.mysql-query</a>]: Unable to save result set
File: /homepages/40/d18898740/htdocs/SITES/fractalforums/Sources/Subs.php
Line: 321Database Error: MySQL server has gone away
File: /homepages/40/d18898740/htdocs/SITES/fractalforums/Sources/Load.php
Line: 2042
Paste (the link) & go in
both Firefox and IE:
2: mysql_query() [<a href='function.mysql-query'>function.mysql-query</a>]: Unable to save result set
File: /homepages/40/d18898740/htdocs/SITES/fractalforums/Sources/Subs.php
Line: 321
In Edge:
Connection ProblemsSorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later.
Going to
http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php? and clicking Gallery (in Chrome):
Connection ProblemsSorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later.
Reloading the page worked, for the Gallery, but clicking the List All link:
Connection ProblemsSorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later.
Reloading that page, again:
2: mysql_query() [<a href='function.mysql-query'>function.mysql-query</a>]: Unable to save result set
File: /homepages/40/d18898740/htdocs/SITES/fractalforums/Sources/Subs.php
Line: 321Database Error: MySQL server has gone away
File: /homepages/40/d18898740/htdocs/SITES/fractalforums/Sources/Load.php
Line: 2042
Oddly enough, clicking
<- to Gallery and List All again did work.
Actually, that is the "Normal" error. By normal, I mean a very common error we have been experiencing for a year or two now. That one can strike any page of the forum at any time, and usually goes away in 10 to 20 minutes of just waiting.
"Cannot connect to database" has been an issue which we cannot track down at all. Likely due to bloated error logs (we've been logging tens of thousands of errors every day for a while now
)
The SQL errors 0Encrypted0 is getting are totally different and I am not sure where to begin with those.
It's odd that an sql error sneaked in with the connection problem error though!
I hope you can see why we had no choice but to take the actions we are taking with focusing our efforts on making a clean and fully functioning site - updating this one would cause a lot of data loss - more than we are willing to accept! So we felt we had no choice. The debate has been going on in our private staff forum for over a year, and we finally were left with no choice...
I hope things keep running as smoothly as they are at least for a month or two so we can finish up this contest and start the Public Bets of our new site! Planned Beta testing is scheduled for right after the contest.
