Hello

Ive made some renderings using David Makins formula for the mandelbulb.

Calling them renderings I have now realized is to go to far..
Since they are made of big blocks of 3D data that I rotate around.. sorry I did not know better  smiley

The interesting part though is that by setting scaling of r,theta and phi individually like this  r^Na, Nb*theta, Nc*phi and using different Na,Nb,Nc.. you can get new things! Negative numbers and fractions work for all three of them.

Na=2.0,Nb=1.0,Nc=2.0 gives something looking like the original mandelbrot(without distorsion).. I don't claim this to be "the 3D mandelbrot"..since there is no fractal behavior in the newly added dimension..just boring and smooth.

See here for some attempts:

Also tried Na=Nb=Nc=-8 ..yes negative! it will make a new kind of mandelbulb as well..so far I have not gotten colors good on that one..they keep hitting max iterations..making it all white.

Nice to see someone else playing with voxels. I think the term rendering is justified, maybe not "artistic rendering" because of its technical look.
