I did some renderings of images including transparent objects, (usually blocks) in which there were many embedded bubbles.  See http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=17423 or https://flic.kr/p/yW5HuA  I was curious about moving the picture plane into one of these transparent blocks just to get a closer look.  What I found was that the image does not seem to render as transparent when the picture plane cuts an object and shows in preview as the cross section color.  In other words, it appears that normally you have to have the rendered surface of an object in the picture to get the transparency.  Playing with this I discovered that in some cases if you change the  preview camera to "Pano" after you have moved the picture plane into the block you can get a renderable image in preview.  You can then move the point of view using the keyboard in the normal way except that each movement must be executed twice.  You can move forward, for example, by pressing "w" two times.  How far this moves the point of view I can't tell.  Finally, if you change the camera back to "stan" or "rect" you will get no image at all except for any bubbles you happen to have and the standard cross sectional view.  https://flic.kr/p/zTwqHU
