have you guys posted any videos which clearly depict what it is exactly you are talking about here?
I am currently working on a diagram which might give a better insight of what is actually happening when you zoom using this method.

Edit: I will most likely make a simple diagram in notepad. I will also attempt to calculate the depth of these sets.

Got it!!!

I noted every part of the stacking process. I am still figuring out how to calculate the depths, I think I am close...

Code:
All patterns of the shapestacking when using the same method every time.

Set1 --> Set2 --> Set3 --> Set4 --> Set5 --> Set6 --> Set7 --> Set8 --> Set9 --> Set10

Postition Set1:

First steps

Set1 to Set2:

First steps*2 + (Set1)

Set2 to Set3:

First steps*4 + (Set1)*2 + (Set2)

Set3 to Set4:

First steps*8 + (Set1)*4 + (Set2)*2 + (Set3)

Set4 to Set5:

First steps*16 + (Set1)*8 + (Set2)*4 + (Set3)*2 + (set4)

Set5 to Set6:

First steps*32 + (Set1)*16 + (Set2)*8 + (Set3)*4 + (set4)*2 + (Set5)

Set6 to Set7:

First steps*64 + (Set1)*32 + (Set2)*16 + (Set3)*8 + (set4)*4 + (Set5)*2 + (Set6)

Set7 to Set8:

First steps*128 + (Set1)*64 + (Set2)*32 + (Set3)*16 + (set4)*8 + (Set5)*4 + (Set6)*2 + (Set7)

Set8 to Set9:

First steps*256 + (Set1)*128 + (Set2)*64 + (Set3)*32 + (set4)*16 + (Set5)*8 + (Set6)*4 + (Set7)*2 + (Set8)

Set9 to Set10:

First steps*512 + (Set1)*256 + (Set2)*128 + (Set3)*64 + (set4)*32 + (Set5)*16 + (Set6)*8 + (Set7)*4 + (Set8)*2 + (Set9)
