I'm creating a video zoom to outer space, and want to create an image that looks like it's made of thousands of distant galaxies. My last images are based on the Hubble Deep Field image  but I'll scale it down so they are little more than dots and smudges. I then want to fit that into something much bigger and mind blowing. It doesn't have to scientifically accurate. It just has to look cosmic.

Can anyone help by suggesting a seed equation that I can tweak? Or is it the case that any existing image can be tweaked so it's made of dots and smudges instead of a smooth surface? As you can tell, I'm just a beginner, so please forgive my ignorance smiley But I've dabbled in 3D work in the past so hopefully won't be too slow to pick it up. I love what I've seen so far.

Thanks in advance for any pointers.

Thanks! Can't see the demo on my cheap laptop (must not have the right GPU), but I'll look into it.
