i am trying to fiddle out the correct settings for the transparency feature, how do i use a color palette with just one color ?!
or just 2 colors ?! i can not find a method to remove any of the gradient colors huh?

Afaik the best way to work with just one color is, to give all nodes the same color. Similar is the method to work with two colors. You can ease the pain by adding the chosen colors to the list in windows' color selection box and pick it in the next node. I didn't find a way to remove colors either...

If i want to use a solid colour rather than gradient I usually set the random factor to 0 then select the colour i want, hit the random button and all the nodes are set automatically. I don't really play around with transparency so not sure if that would work the same !?

Nope, but you can very rapidly change them all to the same colour. Just hover your mouse pointer over the right colour, press "c", then hover over the other colours and press "v'> Works pretty quick
