Description: I generated this fractal using homemade software. It was colored by selecting pixels from an input photo: the thinker by Cast a Line on Flickr. (Thanks to Cast a Line for licensing her work with Creative Commons.) I employed GIMP for minor processing on both the source photo and the output image.

The final artwork carries a CC BY 3.0 license.

It's a hybrid creation. Using Tglad's notation, I replaced the formula for a standard 2D mandelbox, i.e.,

v = s*ballFold(r, f*boxFold(v)) + c,

with

v = s*ballFold(r, f*boxFold(v))^(0, -2).
