Well, you have to do that in Photoshop too, but in this case the background was to busy to use any easy way, thats why I used the eraser, with a soft eraser I get the same result as if I would "feather" a selection, I could have used a mask too, but was too lazy I guess... afro

Ah. In Gimp, I usually feather my selection by two pixels as the default anti-aliasing isn't very good.

In this case I use a "soft" eraser in photoshop to get a soft edge.

I meant the edges of the swan.  Do you feather the selection?  It blends well with the background.

Thank you Erisian, By "anti-aliasing" do you mean anti-aliasing in the fractal or the "edges" of the swan? The swan is manually "cut" from it's original image...

Another nice piece.  Your anti-aliasing is spot on.  Is that a default PS function or did you do it manually?

Stunning! I like how you brought out the fractal features of the swan; now we just need a deep zoom on those feathers.
