Koch Curve in Paul Laffoley Painting | ||||||
Description: Nicely drawn Koch snowflake in one of Paul Laffoley's masterful paintings. "The World Soul of Plotinus" These are 6x6ft in oil, acrylic and hand-placed lettering. None of this is digitally rendered .. all done by hand in traditional media. He was incorporating fractals into his paintings as early as the mid-1970s (Alexander horned sphere). One of his paintings from 1985 has a beautiful Mandelbrot paintied in oil that i'm working on getting a photo of. Anyhow, i'm posting a series here of fractals appearing in the otherworldly philosophical art of Paul Laffoley, a Boston artist who is mildly autistic and spent literally 35 years living in a warehouse space, working alone and produced nearly 800 6x ft paintings of extraordinary complexity, eccentricity and beauty. He recently is being recognized by the larger art-community as a truly rare visionary genius. You can read a good intro to his ideas and see many more pics at the myspace I put together for him. http://www.myspace.com/paullaffoley Stats: Total Favorities: 0 View Who Favorited Filesize: 408.01kB Height: 1089 Width: 800 Keywords: fractal painting hand drawn art laffoley koch Posted by: Guest January 09, 2011, 05:19:05 AM Rating: Has not been rated yet.
