Description: Three-minute deepzoom to nearly a googol. Deepzoom similar to the metaphase image, to a vendekobrot in seahorse valley of one of the period-4 minibrots. The last frame has a side length of 6.6571195676x10-79. That makes this zoom video span a range of scales larger than that spanned by the observable universe from its 41-billion-lightyear radius down to the Planck scale. A single assignment of colors to iteration values is used consistently for every single frame. A keyframe interpolation technique was used to render this 5580-frame video in "merely" three weeks instead of a year or so; 373 keyframes were rendered and the 5580 final frames generated from them in about an hour and a half by a custom Lisp program. The final six or so, in which the vendekobrot seen at the end of the video is a substantial presence and the iterations in the rest of the frame get into the tens of thousands, took nearly one week to render all by their lonesome. The render machine was a 2.5GHz dual-core Intel E5200. It was sometimes used for other tasks during the render; had it been dedicated solely to the render, the render might have taken two weeks or a bit less. The music is, again, an excerpt from a public-domain recording of public-domain classical music. It was edited slightly in Audacity. Other software used includes Virtualdub and my Lisp keyframe interpolator. Pauldelbrot | April 29, 2010, 11:54:11 PM Yeah, I got sick of all the ultra-deepzooms that all use the default red-yellow-white-blue-red-again gradient repeated ad nauseam every 300 or so iterations. I think that gradient must be the default in at least one and maybe 2 or more popular fractal programs (perhaps Fractal eXtreme and UF?). Add to that that you tend to have to dive through repetitions of some structures to get to new ones. So I used one of my not-patented-because-I-don't-believe-intellectual-monopoly-is-right multispectral color schemes built from frequency components on different iteration-scales. Anyway, thanks. Stay tuned for my third video entry, coming in only a few hours. I didn't have time to render another deepzoom (obviously) so I'm afraid you'll just have to settle for shallow zooms. |
LhoghoNurbs | April 29, 2010, 07:04:03 PM Nice deep zoom. Some of the shapes along the dive are interesting ... actually not the shapes themselves, but their colours. Sometimes the same shape looks totally different when a different colour scheme is used. |
