It reminds me of a friend of mine he was an antiquarian and he did also restorations of antiques etc. He had boxes filled with gold-foil, and bronze and copper and silver foils from different centuries. They were so very thin that he blew it with a thin pipe with one nostril on for example a painting. If you did it wrong and used too much force it would crackle and break.
