well spotted, very original ( at least to me), i thought i would see more animals and faces in the competition. Also the colours are excellent.

Yep. "Steampunk" as in the kind of art with lots of small machinery elements, gears, gauges, springs, tubes, pistons, etc. If you googleimage for "steampunk butterfly" you will find interesting examples. So, your fractal reminds me of these steampunk pieces of art.
