The Discovery of the Mandelbulb
Previous Image | Next Image
Description: Yes it is the standard Mandelbulb without any modifications. Boring? Not for me. As I saw some pictures of this thing for the first time, I wanted to have a big poster of that in my room. But because I haven't found any in good quality, big size and good looking image in the world wide web, I decided to to it on my own -> et voila! The person with the torch was done in another 3D program. My intention was to show the search for the holy grail in a symbolic way. In this picture the discoverer looks at an area, where the formula still lacks of perfection. In the background you see the 2D mandelbrot set and the original formulas, copy and pasted from the related thread in this forum. Oh and the colors where painted manually on my wacom tablet. So by now I know every valley and mountain of this monster ![]() Btw. the size of the picture here is reduced, because I didn't want to spam your server with megabytes. The original size is 11000x8000 pix - yeah biiiig piiiiic ![]() Stats: Total Favorities: 1 View Who Favorited Filesize: 353.1kB Height: 1280 Width: 904 Discussion Topic: View Topic Keywords: mandelbulb poster discovery expedition mandelbrot torch Posted by: MatzeR ![]() Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Image Linking Codes

MatzeR | May 02, 2013, 11:10:31 PM Ok, ok - you've convinced me. Even my homepage is not ready, yet, I've uploaded the full res pic here: http://matthiasrohrbach.de/Sonstiges/Mandelbulb_Poster_MatthiasRohrbach.jpg 7788x11024 pix - this resolution is enough to print it at about 1,80m x 1,30m = 70 x 50 inches. Enjoy the wonderful world of infinity! ![]() |

Kali | May 02, 2013, 03:36:04 AM Yes, it's just the good old (old?) Mandelbulb, but the overall image is superb, very creative, very well rendered and composed... and also painted by hand! I also love that it looks like a movie poster ![]() Definitively a good candidate, you have my vote ![]() P.S.: I want a huge print of this in my room! |
