This revives everything yet

Description: I must say that the latest beta makes some lovely renders, it is more realistic, even in standard renders.
I also did a small MC render of the same image:

One more thing is that the DOF only has one focus point in MC, I got confused by the difference in focus of the two renders, but that is the reason... bib reminded me of it, but I think Jesse mentioned it somewhere, I just forgot...  tongue stuck out

Downscaling realy can do magic. MC so far is a pretty new. Actualy this looks more solid than MC, but then probably its foggy appearance could be nice with some fractals. And there are thread by Knighty  showing that it depends, what random numbers are used.

Mastering is too much said...  afro
Still using almost default settings, strange and impressive beast, I think it has potential to do magic!

Well, it is a bit bad as a comparison, this image is downscaled from 4000 x 4000 pixels, the MC render is made in 1080, but this one took only about 25 minutes.
AND more important, I am a noobie on MC rendering, used default values... I think it is much better when used properly...

Actualy this is smoother than Monte Carlo render.
