Inverted Menger Sponge Ring - 4 iterations - EXTREMELY DETAILED 3D print!
Previous Image | Next Image
Description: The most detailed 4 iterations inverted menger sponge ever printed? And it is wearable! (kind of wink

The thinnest sections are only 0.37mm thick -almost impossible to see with the naked eye, this means it is only printable in Frosted Ultra Detail plastic.
Because of this materials semi transparence it appears almost as a "normal" Menger Sponge

Made to test the limits of todays 3D printing techniques.

Thanks guys!  A Beer Cup A Beer Cup
And yeah Christian, I know what you think... but hybrids and all escape time species are quite a different entity to tackle...  The menger is easy to control the thickness and scaled fractality of, real escape time fractals almost always has too small details to be printable you have to do a lot of "clever solutions" to make it work.

I have made some already, here's a couple of them:

And Jérémie has also made some really nice ones. (I ordered one of his the other day)

I have also made some of my more well known images as 3D prints - you'll see soon...  wink

And BTW, the "Frosted Ultra Detail is expensive and fragile, this is why we tend to rather use the less detailed white strong and flexible or metals.
