I generated this fractal using homemade software. It was colored by selecting pixels from an input photo: Landscape; Zion National Park by Alex E. Proimos on Flickr. (Thanks to Alex for licensing his work with Creative Commons.)

The recurrence relation used to compute the fractal is one of Kali's ideas: z = abs(1/z) - 0.5 - 0.3*i, where abs(x + y*i) is defined as |x| + |y|*i. I employed GIMP to process the output image. The final artwork carries a CC BY 3.0 license.
