The Henge

And then he stepped into the Circle of Stones. With the ring to the ring. His quest ended here. The end of an adventure that had started in the little village in Erignea that he called home. An adventure that had begun with a seemingly innocuous drawing in the bible that was left to him by his uncle.

If he would have known all that had transpired since his departure beforehand, he knew he would never have persisted in his quest and would never have reached the Henge that he had just entered. It seems that heroes are just victims of circumstance, he reflected. Not that he thought of himself as a hero. It was just that others treated him like one. And all just because he had had to defend himself once or twice during his journey. Nothing no one else would have done.

Enough! This was not the time to be distracted. Just one more thing to do. He opened his duffel bag and started to lay out all the items one by one in front of him. It was almost time...
