Congratulations to all winners! Your work is really impressive. However, I also want to greet all other participants - don't be sad, art cannot be compared, and be assured that your work is also admired by us. And in this respect, I consider everyone of us is a winner - we had the unique privilege to see artworks encapsulating a beauty that can never be expressed by words.
I also want to thank to the organizers - the number of submissions increases year-by-year and this makes managing the contest harder! Anyway, IMHO, this is not just a fractal contest, but THE fractal contest.

Congrats winners . I am Going with the previous comments , well deserved. Have to admit that I did not vote for the animation section due to a more than two weeks lack of internet connection and time. My excuses for that.
THE fractal contest seemed a bit strange to me , looking at some entries of multiple artist made me wonder why these images are submitted instead of the beauties they have shown before.
I Can`t argue about taste of course.

Congratulations to all the winners! very well deserved... and the results were almost what I expected! (see my comments on "The Fractal Wasp Troll"... I told you Johan! ) I was sure also that bib's video should be in the podium. Congrats, bib! BTW, I'm surprised that my video is on #12 place! Being a very short 2D, not HD video, I didn't expect that! Thanks to all who voted it! Regarding 2D, Ross Hilbert, what can I say, his works are awesome... he mantains an unique style but the quality is always excelent. I expected a bit more on my images, but 12 & 13 places are not bad at all. I know I must work better on coloring. That's because I focus so much on formulas and finding new things, and not much on the "art" part of this Congratulations again to all participants, and off course, congratulations to Christian for the contest's organization, very good work! THE fractal contest seemed a bit strange to me , looking at some entries of multiple artist made me wonder why these images are submitted instead of the beauties they have shown before.
Tabasco, is very common that artist's favorites does not match with the favorites of their public. It happens all the time

Tabasco, is very common that artist's favorites does not match with the favorites of their public. It happens all the time I realise that very well Kali. Happened to me several times that an image I like a lot myself was not even noticed. That`s why I can`t argue about taste. Still wondering though and prolly need to ask the artists in person for a motivation of their choice. I am no mathemagician like a lot of people around here so maybe it`s like your example of a focus on the formula inovation. The Images that made me wonder can be some Magical Math Miracle without being recognised by me ;-)

Congrats everyone, don't think there is anywhere else on the Web you'll see a more impressive array of Fractals and Fractal Talent than Right here.

I think the results may have been biased in favor of the items higher up (later-submitted) on the gallery pages. Not everyone who votes goes through them all and votes, and the rest may tend to vote only for the items near the top of the page. Bearing this out, the lower-rated items also tend to have fewer votes and a lower page position, statistically speaking. If the number of votes, and not just the average of the votes submitted, boosts the score, that would do it.
In that case, next year perhaps the gallery pages should be "shuffled" for each distinct IP used to view the gallery pages, so the vote-only-for-the-first-few-items or only for the ones "above the fold" that catch one's eye types will each be biased toward a different subset of the images.

*PHEW* Been of the net for a few days and came back to this. I cant tell you how deeply honored I am to receive this kind of appreciation on this very special forum... the place where it all started. It means more to me than anything else, this mug is the greatest award I can imagine. I came here just after the Mandelbulb hype had started and have since then been lucky to be able to follow all efforts in the search for the Grail. This place is so packed of helpful and talented people. The forum awoke my slumbering fascination for fractals, I did some Low-fi mandelbrots in the mid eighties… I cannot mention all of you I want to thank, but you know who you are! Instead I thank you all this way… One image says more than a thousand words, and here are three! Thank you Mathematicians: Thank you Programmers: And thank you all my fellow Artists: And thank you for all your nice comments, and to Christian for all his efforts of running the forum and organizing the "contest". And congrats to bib and Ross! Great pieces, as always! Regards Johan

the last 2 weeks the order was reversed, so that the oldest entries where the first, only the middle entries where at the same place but i think we had this year enough cloaking, a random function would be great and i try to get it within a year I think the results may have been biased in favor of the items higher up (later-submitted) on the gallery pages. Not everyone who votes goes through them all and votes, and the rest may tend to vote only for the items near the top of the page. Bearing this out, the lower-rated items also tend to have fewer votes and a lower page position, statistically speaking. My precious mug dreams, dashed to pieces. Oh well, there's always next year. Hanuman is one of my personal favorites and I certainly think it deserved higher than a 3.00, but I guess I can't really be an objective judge. Here's the high resolution if anyone wants to check it out. Congrats of course to all the winners. Fractal Wasp Troll was a great submission and Kraftwerk is one of the main reasons I started rendering fractals to begin with, so I'll gladly take the loss to him.

Cool, I won :-)
I am humbled by the other entries and I am continuously inspired by this fantastic group of fractal enthusiasts.
Congrats to bib and Johan. And if, as they say, envy is the sincerest form of flattery, consider yourselves sincerely flattered.
Thanks to Christian for organizing this event, donating the prizes, and administering this wonderful site (and for having a 2D category!!!)
I will bask in my glory whenever I look proudly at my mug.
Thanks to all, Ross
