Something's dodgy about that table. I'm damn sure I voted on every single entry but two here have zero votes? And there are at least five entries listed with the same name, not three...Odd.

Congratulations Taurus and Zakar! Wonderful and deserving images. Something's dodgy about that table. I'm damn sure I voted on every single entry but two here have zero votes? And there are at least five entries listed with the same name, not three...Odd.
I also voted on every image and was confused by this, until I noticed that the member who posted the images in question had 5 entries, while the limit was 3. I thought we moved the 2 extras out of the competition section, but since we apparently missed that, I guess zero votes is a way of showing they were disqualified.

While I am happy for the winners, once again (I think I mentioned this last year) the top entries are all 3D ones.
For the next competition can we have separate 3d and 2d sections? Those of us who haven't played with the 3d programs are really missing out.
I agree that there were quite varied entries to the competition and long may that continue.
Looks like another successful competition. Well done to the organisers, and to the competitors.

right, i will see to take that into account, it is an open discussion, 2d/3d/film i would be perfectly fine with it, i like the idea of the "topics" like resemblance and axolotl, so we are going to look into it and see what we might come up with

So also at this point a big thank you to all the submitters for the competition and especially to those who supported my entries. I feel honored...

For the next competition can we have separate 3d and 2d sections? Those of us who haven't played with the 3d programs are really missing out. We've done that several times. We just didn't want to do it every year so we can have more variety. We've done general 2D and Strictly Classic Mandelbrot categories. Maybe a Julia Category or some other specific formula might be fun? Or even give a specific location (not too deep) and see who can make the nicest coloring or mapping of it? Feel free to offer ideas!

That's a great idea. Would really bring out the artist in every competitor, and would be really interesting to see what could be achieved from the same starting point.

I'm pleased that there was such a high degree of participation this year! Well done to everyone who entered! And thank you for all your votes! Onward. Ever Onward! It's not the winning that matters, it's the taking part.

Congratulations Taurus and Zakar! And well deserved. It was an exiting competition and the quality of each and every entrance was very high. (I can only you a offer a beer for the smileys are disabled somehow) Quote from: Sockratease on July 01, 2014, 11:59:59 PM Or even give a specific location (not too deep) and see who can make the nicest coloring or mapping of it? I also think this is a great idea and would give some surprising and even exciting results. Too bad we have to wait a year (or not?)

I also think this is a great idea and would give some surprising and even exciting results. Too bad we have to wait a year (or not?) Thanks Simon and Caleidoscope I'd be glad to organize a monthly challenge section. We can start with this one, and discuss / poll for the next one during the month this runs. We'd need to also decide on a voting system to test (see the general discussion thread for 2014 Results for a lively discussion of the merits and shortfalls of many possible systems of voting!). Who can think of a decent location? It should be reasonably easy on the processors so many people with different software and hardware all can play. I'd say no deeper than whatever ChaosPro's deepest zoom is (I forget that detail, but it's a good limit in my mind so 32 bit systems limited to freeware have a chance).

Good idea Sockratease, so everybody can participate and will not be limited because of the software they use. Maybe it's best to put this on a separate forum to get more attention, don't you think?

I can do that. I'll run the concept past Christian and try to have a sub-board in the contest section for "Challenges" set up by the weekend. We can split this discussion or leave it and summarize in the new section
