Hi all,

with a new record of 207 total submissions from 64 different people, now show them what you think about by rating each of the entries individually

thank you for joining, now the second even more demanding task is to rate each entry smiley

here we go:

Still Frame
the Still Frames are with 107 entries the largest section
http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?action=gallery;cat=89

Short Film
with a total of 25 entries nearly a full hour of varying fractal content pleases your eye (and ears)
http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?action=gallery;cat=90

Resemblance
the varying section was this year a bit more general, many faces, really funny animals and lot of variety in general:

now go and VOTE

How exciting!

Could anybody please explain me the details of the voting process to a first time player like me? I understand there are these ratings in the gallery section, but:
 - how are the votes counted? Is it the total number of stars? (in which case, rating one star is better for the entry than not to rate at all)
 - will the votes be visible for the rest or will it be kept a mystery until the end of June?
 - Will the moderator disqualify the entries that somehow disobey the rules (not having the required text in the film, not trying to resemble any living organism whatsoever) or are this to be taken into consideration in the voting process?
 - Are there any voting etiquette? Like voting for your own entry, rating every entry, etc.

ok, everything has been discussed earlier, and i can now answer your question all directly smiley

here i go:

- the total number of stars is what counts at the end, this means that e.g. five 1 star votes for one pic could outnumber a single 4star vote on another,  in this case the first image would have created more attention, and would be ranked better! .

- the votes, along with the views are removed the best i could from the gallery, if you encounter some leaking of voting/views please let me know
- i disqualified/notified the creators of some videos to include the text, right now everything seems to be in place and more or less it is everything accepted right now
- you can not vote for your own, try giving an opinion for every entry ( much work. but good for the general outcome)

- and once again: vote for every entry, the gallery forward/backward buttons proved to be helpful in that, by examining the reeally long entry list this year

I've tried to vote, using the stars below the works, but the message comes back 'Disabled during compo'.

I think I'm doing something wrong... head banging wall

The "View Ratings" link is disabled, but the "Rate Picture" button should work.

You need to click on one of the ratings - 1 to 5 stars - then click the "Rate Picture" button.  Are you doing it in that order?

Nobody can see the overall ratings until after the competition.

EDIT - If you do this, and the message appears, but the stars disappear, then you did it right!  You should only be able to rate an image once, so you'll "see stars" available to rate images until you do so, then the option disappears  (what then shows is a message that viewing the rating is disabled - we did that to avoid influencing people's votes by showing how the rest of the community rated an image).

Hope that helps.  Let me know if there is still any confusion or problems   afro
