Hello to everyone,
i released a new version of my "fractal art machine" yFract. I corrected the "overlay image injection"-technique so it gives much more nicer results. I added a new parameter for this function called "injection"(-Level). So now you can apply the image with the following parameters:

  • Zoom (G/H)
  • Strength (J/K)
  • Injection (9/0)

Now watch the renderings (sorry for spamming :)) i made why i was playing around with a simple mandelbrot formula and combining it with a simple sierpinski triangle bitmap:

Now another overlay image:

Sorry, I won't desribe this technique more deep because i think it makes my app kinda special :). You can combine all 73 fractal types with any given bitmap file. You can copy your own overlay image files by copying it to the according folder in the application directory. Most simple images produce best results if you ask me. Here is a short video that demonstrates how you apply an overlay image with the several "calculation methods":

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/BJAO9tfDs9A&rel=1&fs=1&hd=1" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/BJAO9tfDs9A&rel=1&fs=1&hd=1</a>

So is it still pure fractal art when "injecting" a bitmap into a fratal? I prefer puristic and/or minimalistic fractals with no "post processing". But is this post processing when the bitmap affects on "z" on certain iterations according to the image pixels? I say to me "no" and i enjoy the fancy images that are generated :)

Other small bugfixes were made.

If you are intrested, check my website for quickstart manual and download

Greetings, Dawid

it isnt spamming if you include several images in one posting .. although i havent played with your dos-like renderer i adore your creativity on the formulas!

Thank you Kleinhuis. Maybe you can give it a try some day. It isn't as complicated as it looks for much people, i tried to make it intuitive. The only thing to deal with is that almost every key is mapped smiley But mouse is also supported for the most important functions. Check the manual page for more information.
