Has anyone tried with systems like particle systems, or boids, making two adjustable parameters, and colouring each pixel of a 2D plot by a measure of the behaviour of that system?

For example, the brightness of pixel x = 4, y = 2 being equal to the average density of randomly placed boids, with a sight distance of 4 and a turning rate of 2, after 10 seconds?
