i dont recall if this idea was ever mentioned before, but i had a thought regarding the series approximation / perturbation method.

say we chose as a master reference the center of a minibrot at a depth D, iterate it N times, calculating and saving to file at full precision both the z value and C series coefficients at each iteration, it seems like it should work to be able to use this saved master reference to initialize any point at any depth <=D, to any iteration <=N, and using up to C series coefficients, effectively eliminating the need to ever have to do a full reference iteration within these ranges ever again.

now obviously such a scheme would be limited by how big your master reference file could realistically be given the current technology at any given time.  but would it work?  has anyone ever tried?

short of a master-reference scheme, i was thinking one could certainly at least start including in location information not only the location and things like maxiters, but also the location of a reference point (possibly letting the location center double as the reference point) and the set of corresponding series coefficients along with the z value at a particular iteration (ie the skip amount chosen at render time), such that loading that location would not require a full reference iteration, instead allowing the reference to be initialized at the designated iteration.
