Hello there,

I was lurking for quite some time as I am not really much of a forum person. Now, finally, I have a reason to... thank you all, lovely forum people!

Why?

Well, I made a little animation during the last 4-5 months, using the amazing software provided by Buddhi and Jesse. My humble quadcore was rendering almost the whole time 24/7 (disregarding outtakes, about 2 months worth of rendering time went into the final version). I released it at the Revision 2011 Demoparty in Saarbrücken, Germany, where it made 2nd place in the Animation/Video competition.

All this would not have been possible without the hints and parameters I found here, which I used as starting points for modification and exploration of some of the scenes (you may recognize some). wink

So without further ado, here is the animation I am rambling about:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/mHNZpGMtK6k?fs=1&amp;amp;hd=1" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/mHNZpGMtK6k?fs=1&amp;amp;hd=1</a>
(thanks to the nice person who uploaded this to youtube - I hope I did not screw up the link =)

The full quality 720p HD video can be downloaded here:
http://www.scene.org/file.php?file=/parties/2011/revision11/animation/subdream-raum_zeit.mp4

Hope You like it. And keep up the good work!

Best Regards,
Mic

Wow!!
One of the greatest works I saw so far.
Love every little detail about it, especially the railroadtrack at 3:34 and the stuff afterwards.
What's the background music?
Really, really awesome work!!

Speechless greetings,

Thank you, d0lphchrist smiley

The music is my own creation and was made especially for this animation.

In fact, the reason I started playing with those fractals - apart from looking absolutley fantastic - was, that i was thinking this may be a nice and easy way to create visualisations for my music. And at this point I went horribly wrong - esp. with the "easy" part. wink The project grew as my fascination grew. It would probably never have come to an end, if I would not have set myself a deadline in form of the Revision 2011 demoparty this easter.

Best Regards,
Mic.

Yay, great work on the music! I also create music sometimes, mainly Drum'n'Bass, Psytrance and Breakcore. Would love to have your equalizing skills smiley
I also thought about using fractals for music videos. Mandelbulber had a feature where you could automate parameters to different frequency bands of an audio file,
but the feature got removed because it was too buggy sad ( http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?topic=6301.0 ).
It's a pitty that the Revision 2011 is already over, I live in Freiburg and have semester break right now, would have been only a few hours to Saarbrücken cheesy
What was the result of the contest? Did you win? Was searching on the Revision page, but haven't found any results/demos.

Glad You like it.

Yes, Revision is the successor to Breakpoint. In fact, about half of the orga-team is still the same. And it showed - the organisation of the event was really good. This, together with the location inside a large old generator hall and the overall very friendly atmosphere, made it a special experience.

And when speaking of Revision, there were some other impressive releases which are based on fractals:
"Where are they?" by FRequency. Custom made renderer, really nice animation.
"Electronenmultiplizierer" by Akronyme Analogiker. 4k realtime Sierpinski-based fractal rendered on the GPU only. Very smooth.

Oh, proper equalisation is an art I'm still far from mastering. I think I was lucky that it was turning out good enough.

I knew of the manipulation-by-sound feature, but really never tried it, as I made the music halfway though the the project. But hopefully it will make a comeback at some time in the future, as it sounds very interesting.

Regarding the results, they are now available "officially": http://www.revision-party.net/history/2011

And concerning missing Revision... well, there will be another easter next year.  cheesy

Best Regards,
Mic.
