I Can Do This!

Wow.

This is a short, boring, and Gosh-Awful Fractal Dive!

It was purely to get the mechanics down.

Just to see if I could do this.

Made in ChaosPro, and compiled in VirtualDub (ChaosPro's compiler fails on my computer), here is a first small step in to this area!

Photobucket insisted upon making it an flv file... I made avi, mpg, wmv, and rm for file size comparison. Need to find a host for the dial up versions... I may be making quite a few of these if I start finding interesting stuffs!

Where do Mandalas live?

I've been seeking them to no avail!

It's all right if you're just testing to see if you could do it. Otherwise I could catalog all the problems: max iterations jumping, video aspect stretched... oh, that's just two problems. Well, major ones anyway.

Yes, that was purely mechanical, and my first time playing with zooming in chaos pro too!

I need to learn to smooth things out, so keep up the criticism!

I made two since then, as further tests, but both wer way too jumpy... I'm amazed this one came out as smooth as it did, given the next two results (NOT worthy of sharing!).

I'll get better...

Once I learn which parameters to tweak, and how, to create the patterns I like!

Meanwhile... employment beckons.

Dang it to Heck!

Even better.

I'd guess that you could straighten out the trajectory for a smoother ride and there'd be just as much good stuff to see along the way. Try copying the centerpoint coordinates you're using for the final keyframe and pasting them into all the other keyframes. I haven't used ChaosPro but I figure there's probably a way to do that.

Chaos Pro is funny to figure out things as simple-sounding as Centering! The undo feature is limited as well...

But here is Take 3 anyhow!

Dropped a few frames in the upload, but I got a smooth max iteration change!

It won't be long before I am doing Interesting Things!

Virtual dub compiled this into an 800 MB AVI file!!

I used the PicVid Codec (sounded right) and it dropped to 80 MB.

But it is only10 seconds!!

Is this a decent way to go about compiling images?

Now I understand better why Biocursion is a DVD and not a Download!

So... The file...

Yeah, I had a case of "Key frames look great, but in-between stuff didn't work" on that animation, so I played.

It has some great moments, and a Spectacular Ending! But... it's not a good fractal dive, as such.

Oy.

2D and 3D Comparison Mandelbrot Dive!

I was feeling like I'd been ignoring Chaos Pro lately...

Such a Wonderful Program!

I made a Mandelbrot dive, which is not spectacular, but I like the "Pull Out" at the end far more than I thought I would!

Just for Giggles, I ticked the 3D Transform box and rendered it again! Same parameters.

I've not seen 3D Mandelbrot dives quite like that before...

And not without reason!

But it opens up some possibilities I plan to explore soon!

Your animations are progressively getting better and better. My only suggestion is to use Chaos Pro's powerful palette options. Built in is a huge library of presets.

hmm... one other suggestion: this is one of those minor things you can do which (to me, anyway) adds subtlely to the animation. If you morph the rotation angle (pitch) across the entire zoom - it adds to the motion. It may not sound like much, but it can help the motion less static and linear (something hard to avoid with Chaos Pro).

It's got a major flaw in the middle when I had a power brown-out and tried to reproduce where it left off without a save file!

Came pretty close, but you should spot the moment easily.

Still...

I liked the Lace effects in this one.
