At the beginning the particles have no speed. There are 800 paricles with random position in a cube. The only force is the gravity of the Newton space between the particles. This will accelerate them. The space is slightly retarded, like a lightweight fluid or gas.

If the particles come very close to each other (distance near zero) they will loose their speed - say they are falling into sleep mode. The others will gain speed if they come close together in a certain direction in space.

The overall energy of the system stays the same, otherwise the speed would rise expolsive after a time, or all would freeze if there is a loss of energy. Normally the simulation will run for hours if the distance between the particles don't become too far.
