I've been "into" fractal generation for about 12 years.  Nothing too serious.  For a long time I wanted to make a video of fractal animation - which ended up taking me four years (and the help of a few other fractalists).  It's really my only contribution, but it did turn out pretty good.  I have some examples (stills and video clips) on my web site - check them out and let me know what you think.

I was on that site just yesterday, revisiting it for information from when I was there earlier back during the summer.

I knew that Lloyd Garrick and Jock Cooper were involved, but I would have thought that some of Marc Fraser's images would also have been included as well (I saw that it was only his music).

It was fun working on the animations, and the rendering wasn't too bad (keeping track of 216,000 files) - it was the editing and post-production that almost killed me.  Mark Brennan had enough and pulled out about a year and a half ago - about a year before the DVD was complete.  That's when I started asking around for collaborators.  Lloyd and Jock were the first two I asked, and they both jumped on.  Lloyd's FractInt work and Jock's custum Ultra Fractal layered / morphing animations really stirred things up.

Our first attempt at biocursion in 1995 included about 15 minutes of stilll images - something that wouldn't play out too well anymore (it was shelved until ~2002).  The first 20 minutes of biocursion is made up of fairly large still images (about 4000x4000) mapped to a square polygon and rendered with lightwave, giving a "camera" motion without zooming.  Then again - in 1995 we had three Amigas with a total of about 70 Mhz and no more than a couple of gigabytes of storage.  We used Chaos Pro, which was advanced for its day - and one of the few commercial products out there.  Animations were rendered directly to a Personal Animations Controller - five minutes at a time.  The five minutes were put to several 3/4 tape and the PAR was erased.

nah, it was because I needed at least 720x480x30 and at least 4x anti-aliasing.  Most of the animations in biocursion were rendered with 3x AA @ 2160x1440 and then scaled to video res.  By the time I got in touch with Marc I only needed music and ready-to-go animations.  I didn't push for it - maybe for the next one.
