Hi Guys,

I'm trying to get the 3D mandelbulb with David's formula in UF5, but I'm billions years away from what you get.
Could someone explain the few steps when you have the formula and UF5 to be able to render a 3D mandelbulb?

I put the UFM file inside a dir in the mydoc\UF5\My Formulas and can open it, but it just doesn't look like a 3D object at all....

I have no idea how to do that... i must miss some steps...
And I've been looking on the forum a lot but there's no beginner guide it seems.

Appreciate some help smiley

Hi Larry, welcome to fractalforums.

See the info section in the formula parameters and check the hints on the parameters.

Here's a UPR that should work with my formula - if you copy the whole thing and paste it into an open UF5 fractal window (ignore the warnings) you should get the z^2+c Mandelbulb - to get the z^8+c just change the power parameter:

Greetings, and a belated Welcome to this particular Forum !!!     smiley

And I see that you have only made this one posting since joining on that day in November.  Hope you did not give up so soon.  There are several applications capable of producing the Mandelbulb (more being created all the time), so if you have difficulty with one, you may wish to try another in the long list of rendering programs.

I haven't given up, no worries, but I haven't had much time to continue exploring the mysterious depth of the 3D mandelbulb yet

I'll get back to that for sure smiley

Well, there is plenty of time, and more applications being added to the list of renders.  You may wish to give several of them a try to see which one works best for you.  (We will also try to save a few "mysterious depth" areas for you to explore.)    wink    cheesy
