Take the beta3 and you should navigate with the default navi settings (automatic adjusting the zoom while approaching or leaving objects) quite well.  If you got still problems please report with params, thx.

Thank you, Jesse! I'll grab it! I fall down and worship at the Fractal Gods' altar....or, altars....LOL...you probably each have your own!  cheesy

Also, a very kind friend of mine has advised:

check the fog setting in the nav under lighting in nav take a look at the Divers tab your fog was set at O, i changed it to -15 and no fog, simple

The Divers tab!!! I never gave it a passing thought...I'm such a n00b... Will certainly try all advice and tips, getting rid of that pesky fog is all I need to be on my way!
