So i was playing with the spherical pow/mult functions that fractalrebel posted in the Lambdabulb thread and it got me thinking about some old polynomials that I'd ran 2d sets with years ago.   Found my old notebook and looked up the "Legendre Polynomial" and translated it into triplex based spherical math and the pic in the original message is the "set" view for the 4th order polynomial. I'm rendering up some julia sets (they're interesting because they have completely different shapes depending on where they come from in the set) so stay tuned.

Sweet stuff.  We should get a distributed render farm going, eh?

yes we should! I working on my 'big render' code base right now.  Got 'little render' working fine for up to 256x256x256 but I shooting to generate at 1536x1536x1536 and then down sampling that to my max res of 512x512x512 (limitation of current software/hardware config).  These sets (the big ones) depending on the formula could take upwards of 18 hours to render!  So a farm is also something I'm toying with right now...

Here's a small chunk from the center of one of the Legendre 4th order julia sets, swoopy.
