I don't know what happened, but suddenly my M3D (v189x2) doesn't work anymore. I finished a couple of new renders, then after closing down decided to go back and see exactly what formulas I used for the latest, so I could say something about that when posting my work. Program opened to main window, but Open Params did not respond, claimed my folders were empty, then it locked up. I looked in via my file explorer and certainly all files are safely on my drive. Shut the program off, even restarted my computer...then tried program a couple more times, it opens but the parameters tab still locks up.

I was advised to delete the .ini file, but I can't find it... I reinstalled v.189x2 (from Releases here) and still, the same problems. The program locks itself up each time I hit the Open Params tab. I wondered if something was wrong with my computer. But I have checked some of my other graphics programs and they are fine. Now I have restored the older M3D build, 189x1, and weirdly enough that works perfectly.

Ideas or advice, anyone? I am shocked, I don't know that I've ever had this trouble before with good ole M3D. Even our own dear Luca is stumped on this one.

Not sure if this is a "bug" as everything was fine until suddenly, it wasn't...

Just to be precise
X1 X2 are not different from normal 1.8.9 they only have just additional resources

I hope someone can help?

Well, since this morning my v.189x2 has been functioning normally!  huh? But, I don't trust it not to start acting weird on me again.

It is good to know that v. x1 and v. x2 are not really different from each other OR from their 'parent' v.189.
I thought there was some major diff I didn't know about. But yes, now I have restored v. x1 and it works fine,
I even copied all materials into it. I will leave it there as a backup in case x2 locks up on me again some time in the future.

[Edit] x2 has locked up on me again, thank goodness for 189x1 which is still working...

Maybe this helps, maybe not:  cheesy
MB3D's ini directories are absolute so if one installs MB3D in second hard drive the directories may be "lost" if one plugs a usb drive because the name of second hard drive changes. This happens in win7 (and vista?). It also happens when one copies the application to another location.
BTW! the .ini file is Mandelbulb3D.ini which is always in the same directory as Mandelbulb3D.exe

When Copying the M3d.exe to create a thumbnail on your desktop and then open the program with that new one, the files in the Initial Directories ( Ini Dirs ) can`t be found anymore.
Result:  Empty formula tab , missing Light files etc.,etc.
If the original M3d.exe is still in the same place , together with the M3 files, you can still open it from there and see it works fine.

Next to the 3d Viewer freezing once in a while after the first formula it`s number of iterations was set to zero, I never  experienced other cases of malfunction.

Hoping this is helpful, T.R.
