extrapolating patterns of external angles allows automated julia morphing, but it's too slow to be useful in practice sad explanation, images and code here: http://mathr.co.uk/blog/2016-02-25_automated_julia_morphing.html

http://mathr.co.uk/blog/2016-03-05_julia_morphing_symmetry.html follow-up post showing a series of "rotationally equivalent" branch-off points - the results are differently aligned to the decorations, but the main morphed shape is the same
