I recognize quite a few of these from the forums (as expected). Congratulations to all of the artists who were chosen!

funny thing is that KRAFTWERK won both compos with the same image i thought they would take care for individuality of their contest for sure next years compo will have some additions to the rulse, be surprised, beside, it will be our 5th compo's anniversary

Because a fractal tree is winner... This tree is not original fractal and is not good art. This idea is not new, it almost plagiarism as fractal in my opinion.

Damien (I think) will be in touch with the winners with respect to uploading (or sending) the hi-res versions (at least I think that's what's happened previously).

As I've said elsewhere I was pleased that the overall standard was again an improvement on previous years but disappointed that the 3D entries overall where so far below the high standard of some of the work in the galleries here or on DA or R'osity (with one or two exceptions) and even more disappointed at the shortage of entries created using Xenodream, Apophysis, Incendia or Chaoscope.

That's why I don't enter. BTW, did we all enjoy reading the Orbit Trolls' recent article on the matter?

That's why I don't enter. I don't follow that logic at all - that's more reason to enter, not to not enter !!

Some day people will have to realize that the real "fractal world cup" (as they say on OT) is the fractalforums.com contest, not the BMFAC!!!

maybe you're right, but noone outside the cage will notice... about orbittrap's considerations i am in two minds, but at least his analysis is very entertaining. seldomly i've seen someone painting black and white so clearly.

Thank you David! And congratulations to all the other winners! I am honored to have been selected in this 'contest' in honor of Benoit Mandelbrot, one of my long time heroes. About the high res images... there are some worries from people who has read the rules: 5.5. Dates: High-resolution files for selected artwork must be received by contest staff by October 20, 2011. Maybe it is time to contact us soon, if it is postponed it would be nice to know... Cheers Johan

Congratulations to the winners! I may enter that one day, if I can get over my ... "issues" with it thanks, and my congratulations to all chosen artists too. do you know where to send the highres image. couln't find an upload slot on the site and no mail adress. as my finished jpg has almost 18megs, i doubt this can be provided via my mail account. If you need a host for the file to forward a link, I think something can be worked out. I have a site with a failed forum on it, maybe I can get you an account there and lift the file size limit for uploads (but it's pretty big now as it was meant to host 3D Models). Then you can just send them a link to that. Let me know if that sounds good to you. Alternatively, those file host sites like mediafire, rapidshare, megaupload, and others could work for you. Hope that helps...

I assume the BMFAC has their own FTP or something...
