When sometimes I want to calculate DOF for rendered scene  M3D says that I have insufficient memory (or something of that kind). I have >30GB free on the disk and 16GB RAM. What memory is mentioned and is there a way to assign more memory to MB?
Thank You in advance.
With best regards,
Sfumato.

It's refering to RAM not Disc space but I wouldn't think you would run into problems with 16 gig of RAM, unless it a real freaking HUGE render, DoF does use a lot of RAM. Memory is alloted automatically as far as I know, do you have other programs running maybe that are sucking RAM at the same time maybe.

You may have 16 GB of RAM - but M3D is a 32 bit application and can only address 3 GB of RAM maximum, like all 32 bit applications.  Even if run on a 64 bit system.

The problem, as far as I know, is not the total RAM installed, but the limit imposed by the operating system - Windows - to allow for a maximum of about 2 GB for any application running.  angry

The result is that Windows-based Software (like Mandelbulb 3D) cannot take advantage of the huge amount of RAM. 16 GB just ensure that M3D (or any other program) will still get its maximum amount of RAM when other memory-hogging programs are run simultaneously ...  sad

Thank You my friends!
I know that being a 32-bit app M3D doesn't 'see' any difference between 3 and 16 even 96 GB of RAM.
So as far as I understand it is impossible to calculate DOF for a 40 megapixel image until Jesse writes a 64-bit M3D  wink
