Kali, I was thinking I could find clever simplifications, but I haven't succeeded.

You can certainly use basic algebra to make computational improvements, though I'm not sure it's worth the trouble of dealing with special cases. For example, in the case y = 0 [complex number to a real power], you can use v = r^x and w = x*t.
