Rendered this little friend in ~2 weeks with Mandelbulb 3D.
It's a Julia-Mandelbulb with 3 Transformations:
1) _addC
2) _SinY
3) _Rotate (kicks in around 1:30)

4326 JPEG's @ 1600x1200 with 2x Antialiasing.
Like always YouTube screwed with my bitrate...
Try to go to the YouTube-page and choose "Original" as quality-setting, it's worth it (even if it's not really the original...).
Somehow the background got lost while rendering, so where you see a sky with stars and dust there is later in the video only a lot of black.
