I was turned upon a new method of laser printing 3D sculptures.  This method cuts extremely thin pieces of cardboard with a laser and can accomplish wonderful detail.  Here's a link to a short article. A Beer Cup

Reads really interesting. Ok, for now it is too expensive, but in the beginning all new technologies are.
Maybe in one or two years this is a possible and payable way to produce 3d fract art.

My guess is that they are strengthened with epoxy or similar after the print, I know my 3D printed mandelbulb is...  afro
