often times... there are other approaches which are kinda crappy until you put them in the context of parallel machines

10 minutes from my house cheesy

Interesting video! What is not shown in the video is that for the cooling system they use the water of the lake. They had to dig under the whole city to place the pipes (1m diameter!) tongue stuck out

EDIT: I was wrong about the diameter... "only" 80 cm!

Lol, i couldn't even pay the electricity bill. Imagine just around € 2000.- per hour only for the processor consumption. They should build such monsters inside a dam power plant to get cooling and electricity at once.

Or just wait a few years - then your smartphone has the power wink

in fact ... you should use the heat for boiling water and run a turbine with it wink
the heat that comes from such systems is simply lost energy, i wonder why the not at least try to reuse the heat,
when i hear that 1 diameter pipelines of water are needed, there would be plenty of possibilities to regain some
of the consumption ... sad

In fact SuperMUC in Munich Germany does this. This is possible due to the warm water cooling system with temperatures between 40 and 60 °C. Cooling water of lower temperatures would need a heat exchanger to heat a building and that's not efficient.

It seems the water is not warm enough to extract energy from it. The water comes at 6°C from the lake and is pumped back at maximum 25°C. Here there are a lot of interesting articles, expecially the third: "Lake water to cool supercomputers".

http://www.cscs.ch/newsroom/media/fact_sheets/index.html

I think an approach that let hotter water would be dangerous for the fish fauna.
