I want to render an image that is high-res black and white line art only, so that I can print it on my laser printer.  What I'm going for is all the detail without the inside/outside coloring.  How would I pull that off?  Any ideas?

Thanks,

Is this the kind of image you are looking for? It was created in Ultrafractal using Kerry Mitchell's Rose Range Lite formula.

Yes, that's pretty much it.  My subject is a mandelbrot zoom, and it's in ChaosPro, but otherwise, that's right on the money.  Can I apply this light formula to ChaosPro?  And how do I come by this golden fleece of lighting formulas?

Thanks,

Here is another one, a math surface this time, created with my Ulrafractal formula called LineArt. As far as getting Kerry Mitchell's RoseRangeLite, its in klm.ucl in the Ultrafractal Database. If you don't have access to the database, Kerry is a member of Fractal Forums. If you contact him he might send you the information.

Its very difficult to do this with raster images, even when you boost the pixel output in PS.
Its preferable to start with a with a vector image, its line quality will never vary in thickness, regardless of how much one zooms in.

The best uncompressed format to save is .tiff

These examples were originally produced in Corel a vector art program.
I saved the output to .tiff , the try.tiff file shown here is only a screen capture of the actual file .tiff  which is 30.4 MB

While try1.tiff file is a screen capture of a small portion of the amount of detail available for printing.

cheers!

tomot,

My image is actually a raster image. Ultrafractal rendering uses antialiasing, which means that very fine detail can be captured. Furthermore, the algorithm for my line art program automatically adjusts line width according to zoom (as does Kerry Mitchell's Rose Range Lite).

I saw one by him in the Ultrafractal Public Formulas called lkm.ucl, but not klm.  Did you mean lkm?  Or do I need to look elsewhere?

Thanks,
