Wowow, so much warmth, thanks for making me feel welcome, gang.
Well, first, I should probably plug the FractalForum's "other" section for fractal music generators and parameter to MIDI/etc converters..
http://www.fractalforums.com/other-artforms/There's also some great (some that don't work anymore or aren't found online anymore) lists of music generators and converters out there, a lot of this stuff is going to require some kind of older windows emulation or compatibility runner:
http://www.fractovia.org/art/fractal_generators/music01.shtmlThere's also a pretty extensive list of fractal sites and programs hidden over at dmoz:
http://www.dmoz.org/Science/Math/Chaos_and_Fractals/ lots of those sites also have more info on fractal music, fractal sound generators, fractal parameters to MIDI and etc
http://stason.org/TULARC/science-engineering/sci-fractals/34-What-are-sources-of-fractal-music.htmlhttp://tamw.atari-users.net/fractmus.htmhttp://download.cnet.com/1770-20_4-0.html?query=fractal+music&platformSelect=&tag=srch&searchtype=downloads&filterName=platform%3DWindows%2CMobile%2CMac%2CWebware&filter=platform%3DWindows%2CMobile%2CMac%2CWebwareI also wrote some obsolete simple programs for QBASIC myself that would cross-reference the displayed Mandelbrot or Julia set with a string of notes, but it wasn't very appealing at all.
Looking to generate an up-to-date list with reviews of fractal sound programs and utilities, I'll post soon for you all if I get one done that's relatively comprehensive and current.
Here's some samplings of my own music, usually I start off with fractal tones and sounds generated by one or another program using parameters from a set, then distort it into a loop or even instrument. I usually layer the heck out of my songs, and have been known to throw in live instruments on top of everything. Really on a big chiptune and glitch kick these days, so please don't anticipate classic rock and roll or mellow ambience:
http://smalltortoise.bandcamp.com/track/aphex-tripletAs you can see, it's pretty chaotic-sounding, but if you pay attention, even the song progression becomes self-similar.
Oh, thanks for the offer to host, I actually have my own hosting plan with ~30 websites for myself and clients, but thanks!! Actually, I spent some time a while back as a phpbb and smf techie so if I can help YOU then let me know!!
