That is really amazing, and it's indeed very similar to that fractal Escher made with those devils and angels. Somebody told me that this fractal resembles the shape of the universe, the nearer to the borders, the less distance you travel towards the end of the universe while still keeping constant speed. Example: if you travel 3 of those squares per second, the closer to the border, the slower you go while keeping the speed of 3 squares per second. That would explain why going out of the universe will never be possible. There's much to say about this fractal.

Thanks Dinkydau, This is a hyperbolic tiling similar to that used by Escher in his Circle Limit series, including the "Angels and Demons" to which you refer. Of course, Escher did his without a computer and carved it in wood !!! And like you describe, this tiling utilizes a model of of the hyperbolic plane, called the "Poincare disc" model, that maps the entire hyperbolic plane (an infinite area) entirely within the unit circle!
