Found three Mandelbulb renders (one with glass material) of the Mandelbulb in the gallery belonging to a Mac OSX 3D modeling program.

I have no idea how the bulb was imported into the 3D software. Looks nice though.

Yeah, you can even get them made for you in 3D at shapeways!

I'm assuming that they are rendering slices, then importing the slices into another prog to make the 3d shape.

Looks like a flipped p8, nice glass version.

I thought it was easy in m3d to do 2d slices in the ani, but there seems to be some nifty things to get around...
So i did an example m3a file that should work on the p8, the proportions are more or less exact, one of the nifty things.

I see that a special export function would make this much more comfortable.

The P 8 looks like it has had some serious problems when rendering the "minibulbs" they are completely hollow...

Wow, really expensive and really tiny with a very low number of iterations.
