My first love was Winfract, the windowed version of Fractint - which I also used extensively a bit later,
even dedicated an old 486 to it for a while. I tried many others, but found Fractal Explorer to have the
widest range and flexibility combined with ease of use, and the price is right! I think it was easier for me
to get into it because I had worked with all the others. Being able to run it from a CD is a big plus when
I want to turn others on to the world of fractals.
Then you may be interested to know that a considerable bit of recent effort has been made to get
FractInt working as a regular Windows application. The
FractInt Developers discussion list has been quite active over the past few months.
Can UF do that? Ha.
Yes, there are some individuals that would lead others to believe it is the "Ultra" fractal generator. But knowledgeable people without agendas know better.
